#1
01-2YEARS-OK
The tradition is 2-year terms. Don't change it.
#2
04-1YEAR-OK
The terms should be changed to 1-year terms.
#3
07-IEEE-OK
Borrow a system from a local IEEE chapter - the president-elect serves as assistant to the president for a year before actually becoming president for a year.
#4
02-2YEARS-NO
No, 2-year terms are too long.
#5
08-IEEE-NO
No, don't use the IEEE system because that's the purpose of the VP, and it doesn't bring an elected candidate to office immediately.
#6
05-1YEAR-NO
No, 1-year terms are too short.

Description of Voting Topic
This is an alternate presentation of results for the
"Term of Office for SVLUG
President/Vice-President" poll. The choices for "I'm willing to run"
are merged into the "this choice is OK" options in this analysis
of the results.
You can vote in the other poll, but not this one.
Detailed Results
This vote uses a Single Transferable Voting (STV) system, which is a
simple form of "preference voting", so that voters can cast first,
second, third, and more preferences for their vote. If a majority can't
be reached, the last choice is eliminated and the count starts over
looking for the highest preference. More information on STV and other
voting systems can be found at:
Single Transferable Vote (Wikipedia)
Single Transferable Vote (Google Directory)
Elections: Results and Voting systems (UK)
a student's STV page (Finland)
This vote was handled by Vote::STV (a Perl module) by Ian Kluft.
Source code is available at http://www.kluft.com/~ikluft/opensource/code/
The following tables show in detail how the results were obtained.
Each of the "rounds" shown were separate passes through the data by the
vote-counting software. Multiple passes are necessary to count an
STV-style vote.
